Fabiana Preti
Fabiana Preti (1979)
Fabiana Preti (1979) lives and works in São Paulo. In his production, Fabiana Preti investigates methods of formal precision and perfection, based on the rhythm and intensity present in the gesture and repetition. He began his research through investigations into the form and processes of sublimation of the elements. Fitting, mirroring, serialization and modulation have a central role in Fabiana Preti's practice for more than a decade, and gradually, interest in materiality has become increasingly prominent, unfolding between painting, engraving, embroidery and Sculpture.
The support and porosity of the materials become the protagonists of Fabiana Preti's research, in a dialogue with geometric developments. Preti seems to go through the trajectories of materials and listen to what the tones have to say; In this exercise of absolute presence, the repetitive gesture expands through the languages it crosses in a meditative state, close to the trance. More than a formal procedure, it is a way of being in the world, of thinking about time, gesture, body and space.
In 2024, Fabiana Preti participated in an immersion in the Canary Islands, Spain, an experience that expanded her research and marked an inflection point in his creative trajectory, reaffirming his interest in sensory experiences in geographical contexts such as a poetic investigation engine.
Fabiana Preti participated in several exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, in spaces such as Galeria Caribé, Galatea Art, Gruta, Thomas Baccaro Gallery and Unesp Institute of Arts, in São Paulo; Castelinho do Flamengo, in Rio de Janeiro; and Art in Brackets in New York. It integrates private and permanent collections by Paulo Setúbal, Fabio Ulhoa Coelho, José Leopoldo de Abreu Figueiredo, Paulo Proushan, from Soho House São Paulo and from University Hospital in Texas.
The artist is represented by Galerie Emmanuelle Grelier, in New York, and is a member of the Instituto Artistas Latinas, in Brazil. Through these partnerships, Fabiana Preti participated in national and international art fairs such as SP-Arte, ArtRio, Art Miami, Austin Art Fair and Affordable Art Fair New York.
